Often times various retail stores have mega-deals on computers. Once these computers are purchased, their owners bring the computers to me to upgrade because they are slow. Often these $399 specials are Celeron or Sempron Processors. This means the main engine, driving all the power of the processes in the computer, is geared slower and works at a lower wattage of power to save energy. You can increase memory or hard drive space all you want, but the fact is you are still going to move as fast as the processor allows. My advice is: people spend a lot of money to increase performance on these “mega-deals”, when they could have spent less on purchasing a computer with the performance they wanted from the start. So, if you are looking for performance and speed, stay away from computers that say Celeron or Sempron anywhere on the advertisement!
